Xiao-Li Meng is Dean of the Harvard University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) and Whipple V. N. Jones Professor and former chair of Statistics at Harvard. In 2001 he won The Committee of Presidents of Statistical Societies Award for “The outstanding statistician under the age of forty” and in 2013 won an American Statistical Association Founder’s Award. He is well known for his depth and breadth in research, his innovation and passion in pedagogy, and his vision and effectiveness in administration, as well as for his engaging and entertaining style as a speaker and writer.
