Pitt Statistics Students Place in Milwaukee Bucks Hosted Hackathon

Kevin Collins, Dom Ventura, Ben Kwin, and Ryan Quinlan, four of our statistics/data science majors, participated in a hackathon sponsored by the Milwaukee Bucks (Milwaukee Bucks | The Official Site of the Milwaukee Bucks (nba.com)).  The students utilized a predictive linear model, principal component analysis, and k-means clustering in order to create a dynamic, game-by-game premium ticket pricing model that aimed to maximize potential revenue based on data provided by the Bucks.  The team won 3rd place for their presentation, which can be viewed at the above link.  Congratulations to our student winners!
